Knitting Projects

I've posted some pictures of things I created with my crochet hook last year! last year, how crazy that sounds... feels like it was just last month, which technically is last year.

Rogue Knitters

I'm working at learning Catherine's Wheel and The Star Stitch to make more dish cloths and a few pot holders. I think I'll be happy with this and can move onto some sewing and more knitting projects. I think I know enough crochet to get me by now.

Life is Good

More Food For Thought

DH experimented with the older apples and oranges. He sliced them thin and placed them in the warming oven of the cook stove. They turned out perfect! The only thing I need to do is get a thermometer to keep tabs on the temp. I'd like to be able to keep it below 115 degrees to maximize nutrients in the food.

DH at it again, he made an incredible curry soup! No need to say a whole lot it tasted as amazing as it looked.

I bought all the ingredients to make homemade Chai tea. We use to make it from scratch years ago. Its cheaper to make your own, and tastier, as you can add and delete spices to your liking. I have a huge pot on the stove that's been there for two days now. I want to eventually experiment with make a syrup for the kids that they can add to soy or almond mylk.

DH was making the kids grilled cheese sandwiches today and i got to thinking... "humm wonder how accessible roasted garlic could be!" Kids won't be impressed because it only went into the oven when things were being baked for long periods of time. Wasteful to just roast garlic! Guess what!!! All you need to do is wrap it with foil, a little olive oil and sea salt and voila! I tossed a cast iron pan over it and left it on the stove top for 20 or so minutes. Next time I'll place the garlic in a pan and cover with another pan, hopefully I won't need the foil. I think Dd might be impressed.

Having said all this and showing all these pictures of cooked food, I'm trying to keep to eating 75% plus RAW. I'm having fun cooking for others.

Whats for dinner?

Feeding the birds...

We get a few birds to our feeder...these 2 bluejays are regulars that enjoy the handful of seeds we put out each day.

New things....

Lee here.... Chris got me this beautiful little stool for Christmas.

..and a few days later he found this wall plaque at Value Village.
Funny that he doesn't like the colors in our house but now he is buying things that match!

New Year 2010

Happy New Year!

What a great few days we've had. Hunkering down with family, eating too much food! Not me actually, but the rest of the clan. I've been keeping to my goals and hope to be able to keep it up over these next few months. This is a pic of the warming oven, tatters and pancakes keep warm until the eggs are done.

Here are some more food pics! Its all about the food... I'm not eating it so I'm going to obsess over it in other ways. I even baked croissants in the oven! (don't get too excited...Pillsbury junk..) .

I wanted to post a pic of our first attempt at roasting something in the cook stove. DS was given a turkey for Christmas from his employers. Finally got to test the dutch oven! We cooked everything on the stove today, mashed tatters, broccoli, calamari, mussels, and salmon.

Katheeeeeee. you need one of these babies!!!!! I can see it where the Vermont Castings is, right smack dab in the living room. It does make the house a little too warm sometimes, but I can crack open a window or turn the ceiling fan on.

Once again, Happy New Year folks.. its going to be a good one :)

Lets make this year a great one! I think I can look back on last years resolutions and re post them! Lose weight, be more organized with homelearning, make healthier food choices etc....seriously tho, I want to do those things and I also want to incorporate yoga and prayer and meditation into my life on a daily basis. Such a perfect time (altho anytime would do) to start things fresh......Lee
